Leeds City College
The client
Leeds City College was formed in 2009 after merging with 3 other educational facilities and is now one of the largest Further Education establishments in the UK. The college takes every aspect of safety into account and required safe roof access for maintenance works.
The building
Leeds City College is one of the largest further education colleges in the whole of the UK and one of the biggest providers of apprenticeships nationally.
Their mission is to be an exceptional and responsive college providing life-changing education, skills, and experiences for individuals, businesses, and communities.
Operating out of six main campuses, it is an establishment at the heart of the community. Locations include: Horsforth, Joseph Priestley, Keighley, Park Lane, Technology, and Printworks – as well as having provisions in dozens of smaller community centres across the region.
The requirement
Safe roof access is a high priority at the Park Lane Campus of Leeds City College. As workers will be accessing the roof for general inspection and maintenance purposes, the Work at Height Regulations 2005 (WAHR) states that competent and trained workers must use suitable fall protection equipment. This includes accessing several plant rooms, air conditioning units and rooflights. All the roof areas are located at different levels, therefore a solution to provide safe access was required.
The solutions
Working directly with the college, we carried out the initial site survey to assess the clients’ requirements and discuss the suitable solutions that Eurosafe could provide.
Moving forward with the proposal, designs were created for each element of the works and put forward to the college to ensure the proposal included safe access to all areas. Utilising the Ascent™ access range, Eurosafe successfully provided Leeds City College with the highest standard of customer service whilst installing high-quality equipment that the company prides itself on.
