The client
Eurosafe has completed a contract to provide a specialist safe access system to allow a new roof to be installed on the iconic Castalia building in Den Haag, The Netherlands.
The building
The building is home to the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, has 21 storeys and rises to 104m, making it one of the tallest buildings in The Hague.
The requirement
Contractors JP van Eesteren and building owners Deka Germany were presented with a major challenge when safe access was required for engineers to refurbish the 35m high, twin triangular pitch roofs.
The solutions
Eurosafe was awarded the contract to design and implement a fall protection system, utilizing rope access techniques to ensure safe construction work on the steep-sided roofs of this iconic building. The company's extensive expertise in designing and installing fall protection systems on numerous iconic buildings across the UK, Europe, and worldwide made them the ideal choice for this project. With a proven track record of excellence, Eurosafe is committed to delivering exceptional results and ensuring the safety of all workers involved.
The in-house Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) team is highly trained, and a significant investment was made to ensure that they could install the Kalzip standing seam roofing system to meet the specialised requirements of this job. This specialist training in Kalzip-approved techniques enabled the contractors to work safely at these extraordinary heights.
We called upon Eurosafe as a safe means of accessing the roof was required, which required a high level of expertise. We were extremely impressed with the high quality of work delivered by the company, which minimised the risks whilst working at these extreme heights. Their team was very professional, highly skilled and communicated well at all times with us and other parties, ensuring very safe working practices on site.”
~ Ing. F.W. Boesveld - Senior Project Manager @ JP van Eesteren
The team also provided ongoing support throughout the duration of the project to further enhance safety on the project and were able to support the existing roofing contractors with specialist rope access techniques to complete the re-roofing of the building safely and efficiently.
With excellent feedback from the client and on-site partners, it was a great experience to work on such an extraordinary building.
