The Client
Center Parcs’ Elveden Forest Subtropical Swimming Pool (STSP) Dome required a new access solution to improve maintenance operations within the roof structure. With direct access restricted due to the swimming pool below, a carefully planned approach was essential to ensure a safe and efficient installation.
The Challenge
The primary challenge was the limited installation access caused by the pool directly beneath the work area. Traditional access methods such as scaffolding or mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs) were not feasible, necessitating an innovative lifting and installation strategy.
The Solutions
To overcome these restrictions, a site-specific lifting plan was developed. The key elements of the solution included:
Prefabricated Modular Gantry: A lightweight, sectional gantry system was designed for easy transport and assembly within the restricted space.
Floating Pontoon Platform: A bespoke floating platform was introduced to facilitate safe lifting and lowering operations over the pool area, preventing disruption to the facility.
Precision Lifting Strategy: The modular components were manoeuvred into place using a controlled lifting system, ensuring minimal impact on the surrounding structure.
The Outcome
The successful installation of the modular gantry has significantly improved maintenance access within the STSP dome roof. The innovative approach not only ensured a safe working environment but also minimised downtime, allowing Center Parcs to maintain their high standards of facility upkeep without major operational disruption.
By combining expert planning with a tailored access solution, Eurosafe delivered a project that met the client's needs while overcoming complex site constraints.
