Vita Student Telephone House, Sheffield
The building
FK Resolv approached Eurosafe UK with a challenging project at Vita Student Telephone House, a large student accommodation complex in Sheffield. Located in the heart of Sheffield, the Vita Student Telephone House is home to hundreds of students.
The project involved the replacement of 394 glass panels across the building. However, the rooftop weight restrictions ruled out traditional lifting techniques like cranes or mobile platforms.
The challenges
Weight Restrictions: The rooftop structure could not bear the load of conventional lifting equipment, necessitating an alternative solution for glass panel replacement.
Limited Access: The building’s location and design posed further complications for access using standard scaffolding or other equipment.
Occupied Building: The project had to be carried out without major disruption to the students residing in the accommodation.
Tight Schedule: The work had to be completed within an 11-week program to ensure minimal impact on the residents and maintain project timelines.
The solution
Eurosafe UK's rope access team provided the perfect solution for this project. Utilising rope access techniques, the team was able to safely and efficiently replace the glass panels without needing heavy lifting equipment. This method minimised structural strain on the building and reduced the risk of disruption to occupants.
The outcome
This project highlights Eurosafe's ability to deliver complex façade access solutions through the innovative use of rope access. By overcoming the constraints of weight restrictions, limited access, and the need for minimal disruption, Eurosafe showcased its commitment to providing safe, efficient, and cost-effective solution tailored to specific client needs.
